GCUF Delegation Participates in an International Genomics and Cyber-Biosecurity Workshop in Malaysia

A delegation from Government College University Faisalabad led by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, participated in a 4-days international workshop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia alongside the delegations from Agha Khan University, Dow Medical University and Khyber Medical University. The workshop was supported by Health Security Partners (HSP), USA, and technical experts from Sention, Australia.
The workshop focused on the intersection of genomics and cybersecurity, including protection of genomic data, ensuring cybersecurity and devising risk management mechanisms. It provided hands-on training on governance, policy making, compliance, risk assessment, incident response, secure laboratory systems, and safeguards against any breaches particularly in the context of emerging digital threats.
The GCUF delegation included Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, Prof. Dr. Farhat Jabeen, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hidayat Rasool, Dr. Muhammad Tahir ul Qamar, Dr. Muhammad Umer Sarwar, Mr. Moeen Qureshi, and Dr. Zia Ashraf.
The participation will contribute to strengthening GCUF’s institutional capacity in genomic data security, cyberbiosecurity, and responsible adoption of emerging technologies, while further enhancing international academic and professional collaboration. Taking this opportunity the delegation also visited UCSI and UTM University where meetings were held with the heads of these institutions to expand international collaborations.
