GCUF Signs Landmark MoU with Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan to Strengthen International Academic Collaboration

Government College University Faisalabad marked another significant milestone in its internationalization strategy by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Academic, Educational and Research Collaboration with Nazarbayev University (NU), Republic of Kazakhstan during a prestigious ceremony held at GCUF Chiniot Campus.

The MoU was formally signed by Prof. Dr. Rauf-I-Azam, Vice Chancellor, Government College University Faisalabad, and Prof. Dr. Rehan Sadiq, Provost, Nazarbayev University, in the presence of distinguished national and international guests.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Danyal, representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Pakistan, Dr. Wasif Waseer, CEO of Global Pathway Education, renowned businessman and philanthropist Mr. Choudhary Masood Iqbal, deans, directors, faculty members, researchers, and students. The event was hosted by Dr. Falak Sher, Director, GCUF Chiniot Campus.

The collaboration was facilitated by the Directorate of International Linkages (DIL), GCUF, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz, Director, and Dr. Muhammad Tahir ul Qamar, Deputy Director. The MoU establishes a framework for long-term cooperation in areas including collaborative research, faculty and researcher exchange, reciprocal student mobility, joint workshops and conferences, academic training programmes, and the exploration of articulation pathways leading to joint, dual, and double degree programmes, subject to the regulatory requirements of both institutions.

During his address, Prof. Dr. Rehan Sadiq introduced Nazarbayev University, highlighting its emergence as one of Central Asia’s leading research-intensive universities with internationally recognized faculty, modern research infrastructure, and a strong commitment to innovation and global engagement.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-I-Azam expressed his appreciation to Dr. Falak Sher and the GCUF Chiniot Campus team for hosting the distinguished delegation. He reiterated GCUF’s commitment to expanding international partnerships that provide meaningful academic and research opportunities for students and faculty.

Later, the delegation visited Iqbal Rice Mills (Pvt.) Ltd., Chiniot, where they were hosted by Mr. Choudhary Masood Iqbal. The guests received a comprehensive briefing on modern basmati rice processing, quality assurance, export standards, and value chain management.
