Pakistan Engineering Council Accreditation Team Visits GCUF

A four-member team from the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) visited the Department of Electrical Engineering and Technology, Government College University Faisalabad, in connection with the re-accreditation of the BS Electrical Engineering programme. The visit covered a review of Batches 2022 through 2025. The team was led by Engr. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aamir (Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi). The Programme Evaluators comprised Engr. Dr. Abdul Qayyum Khan and Engr. Dr. Qasim Awais, while Engr. Taha Ahmad Khan Kirmani participated as the PEC Representative.

The team was warmly received by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam. Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf Bhatti delivered a presentation on university initiatives, and Chairman of the Department Engr. Dr. Kashif Nisar Paracha briefed the team on programme details. The evaluation team inspected all Electrical Engineering laboratories, conducted a detailed review of course files and quality documentation, held direct interactions with students and faculty members, and examined all quality enhancement initiatives undertaken by the department.

The team found the department’s performance to be highly satisfactory in accordance with PEC guidelines and the standards of the Washington Accord. The department extends special thanks to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, whose personal interest, special commitment to engineering education, and tireless efforts to uplift the standard of education have played a pivotal role in this achievement.

It is worth noting that 18 batches of this programme have graduated to date, and all batches have remained accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council. In the previous visit conducted in 2023, the programme was awarded a three-year accreditation, which was a significant achievement in itself. Since then, the department has undertaken numerous initiatives to further enhance the quality of its programme.
