Islamabad as a Diplomatic Nexus: GCUF Seminar Highlights Pakistan’s Role in US–Iran Engagement

The Department of International Relations, Government College University Faisalabad organized a one-day seminar on Pakistan’s evolving diplomatic role, focusing on its potential to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran.
Faculty members, students, and experts discussed Pakistan’s strategic importance and its role as a bridge in international conflicts. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa welcomed scholars Prof. Dr. Rabia Akhtar, Dr. Qamar Cheema, and Prof. Dr. Muqarrab Akbar. Dean Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asim Mahmood, also attended.
Speakers highlighted Pakistan’s historical role in major diplomatic developments, including United States-China rapprochement and the US-Taliban peace process. They noted that Pakistan’s political and military leadership has contributed significantly to regional peace, security, and diplomatic engagement.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam appreciated the organizers and said Pakistan’s strategic location, balanced foreign policy, and diplomatic credibility give it an important global role. He urged universities to create awareness among students about international affairs and peace building.
The seminar concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s potential as a constructive diplomatic actor and the importance of academic dialogue for global peace and cooperation.
