The Department of Environmental Sciences at Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), in collaboration with Nishat Mills Limited, organized an international workshop on “Industrial Careers for Environmental Science Professionals: Opportunities and Challenges” to bridge the academia-industry gap and enhance students’ career prospects.

Industry experts and distinguished alumni discussed career opportunities in environmental management, pollution control, waste management, environmental impact assessment (EIA), health, safety and environment (HSE), and industrial sustainability. They highlighted the importance of practical skills, ISO certifications, professional networking and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Principal Organiser Prof. Dr. Shafaqat Ali emphasized academia-industry collaboration, while Department Chairperson Prof. Dr. Tahira stressed communication and problem-solving skills. Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Prof. Dr. Farhat Jabeen appreciated the initiative for enhancing students’ career awareness and employability.

The workshop reflected Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam’s vision of promoting career-oriented education, industry partnerships and sustainable development.
