Government College University Faisalabad: 83rd Meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board

The 83rd (7/26) meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) of Government College University Faisalabad was held at the New Campus under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, Government College University Faisalabad, Professor Dr. Rauf-i-Azam. The meeting was attended by the relevant Deans, faculty members, members of the Board, and other concerned officers of the University. In accordance with the agenda, various important matters relating to higher education, research affairs, and PhD and MPhil scholars were considered.
During the meeting, Professor Dr. Matloob Ahmad, Director Advanced Studies, presented agenda items before the Board in a systematic and sequential manner. He briefed the Board on the necessary details, relevant documents, evaluation reports, and recommendations pertaining to each case. The meeting commenced with the confirmation of the minutes of the 82nd meeting, followed by the presentation of reports of external examiners on the theses of PhD scholars from various departments.
The agenda included evaluation reports of a number of PhD theses from the disciplines of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Arts and Social Sciences, Islamic and Oriental Studies, and Engineering and Technology. Reports of foreign and local experts regarding various theses were also presented before the Board, containing recommendations for thesis approval, minor revisions, major revisions, and other academic considerations.
The meeting also considered applications submitted by various PhD and MPhil scholars regarding enrollment/extensions in different semesters beyond the prescribed period. These cases were presented before the Board after taking into consideration the academic progress of the scholars, completion of their research work, research publications, and the current status of their theses.
Furthermore, the agenda included the minutes of the Board of Faculty, Faculty of Engineering and Technology & Faculty of Arts and Social Scienes, and applications regarding the grant of “PhD Approved Supervisor” status to faculty members.
The Board members held detailed deliberations on all matters presented before them and examined each case in light of the relevant rules and regulations, research standards, and the academic progress of the scholars.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Rauf-i-Azam emphasized the importance of further improving the quality of higher education and research, maintaining high research standards in PhD programmes, and ensuring the timely resolution of students’ academic matters in accordance with the rules and regulations.
