Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam Emphasizes Promotion of Research Activities and Improvement in Global Rankings

The 78th meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) of Government College University Faisalabad was held in the video conference room of Allama Iqbal Library, New Campus. The meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam. The Pro Vice Chancellor, along with deans of various faculties, chairpersons, directors, and other distinguished members, attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam congratulated various departments of the university for achieving prominent positions in the QS rankings and urged faculty and staff to continue working with dedication and commitment.

Director Advanced Studies, Prof. Dr. Matloob Ahmad, provided a detailed briefing on the agenda and key points of the meeting, while Registrar Ghulam Ghaus performed the administrative duties as Secretary of the meeting.

During the session, the minutes of the 77th meeting of the Board (held on February 10, 2026) were presented for consideration. After detailed discussion regarding “PhD Approved Supervisor,” the minutes were formally approved.

Furthermore, the Board reviewed the reports of external examiners concerning the evaluation of PhD theses from the Faculty of Physical Sciences, Faculty of Life Sciences, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Learning, Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Faculty of Medical Sciences. The Board made decisions on the relevant matters in accordance with rules and regulations after carefully examining these reports.

In addition, cases regarding extensions for the submission of research theses by certain PhD scholars were also considered. The Board issued decisions after thorough deliberation.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam stated that Government College University Faisalabad is ensuring high research standards, transparency, and strict adherence to academic regulations to promote research activities in line with national and international standards. He reaffirmed the commitment to continue taking all possible measures to enhance quality and impactful research at the university.
