Fahm-e-Quran Workshop Held at Government College University Faisalabad; Experts Emphasize Strengthening Teachers’ Connection with the Holy Quran

A grand workshop titled “Fahm-e-Quran” was organized for teachers under the auspices of the Rahmat-ul-Alameen Seerat Chair at Government College University Faisalabad. The purpose-driven academic session was presided over by Professor Dr. Humayun Abbas Shams, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, while Professor Dr. Ubaid-ur-Rahman Basheer attended as the special guest. The workshop also featured Dr. Yasir Arfat, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed, and other faculty members.

The event was attended by a large number of university teachers, PhD and MPhil students, as well as faculty members from affiliated colleges.

In his presidential address, Professor Dr. Humayun Abbas Shams highlighted the significance and benefits of the workshop, stating that the program should be viewed in the context of welcoming Ramadan, and that during this blessed month, one should strengthen their connection with the Holy Quran through reading and understanding it. He also expressed special thanks to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, whose interest and efforts made the organization of this important program possible.

In his address, special guest Professor Dr. Ubaid-ur-Rahman Basheer urged teachers and students to strengthen their bond with the Holy Quran and to instill its teachings in the hearts of the new generation through teaching. He remarked that if English can be a medium, why can’t the Quran be a medium? He conducted practical exercises for different lessons, introduced modern methods of effective Quranic teaching, and emphasized making lessons engaging and impactful through practical activities.

In the closing remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Learning thanked the participants, noting that workshops of this nature play a crucial role in raising awareness of Quranic understanding and interpretation trends and in effectively conveying the message of the Quran to the general public. At the conclusion of the event, certificates were distributed among the participants.
