Cash prizes and trophies were distributed among students who demonstrated outstanding performance in inter-departmental and inter-collegiate sports competitions.

Government College University Faisalabad has always been at the forefront not only in maintaining high academic standards but also in the physical, mental, and moral development of students. Continuing this legacy, the university organized a special ceremony to highlight the importance of sports and to promote healthy activities.

Sports serve as a practical training ground for qualities such as discipline, tolerance, brotherhood, patience, and teamwork among the youth.

Declaring sports an essential part of education, Vice Chancellor of GCUF, Professor Dr. Rauf Azam, emphasized that both physical and mental well-being are vital for a balanced personality. In his address, Dr. Rauf Azam further stated that sports are not merely a form of entertainment, but a philosophy — a form of training that teaches youth the values of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and leadership.

Under this vision, the university has provided a state-of-the-art sports complex for indoor games, and soon, GCUF’s grounds will also be opened to the public of Faisalabad to offer citizens access to healthy recreational activities.

The Vice Chancellor remarked that Pakistan has a proud history in sports — whether it be hockey, cricket, or squash, our athletes have brought international acclaim to the country. Now is the time to reconnect the younger generation with sports so they can move forward with hope, unity, and progress instead of despair.

The ceremony was attended by Chairman Sports Board Professor Dr. Nasir Amin, Director Sports Dr. Saeed Javed, Deputy Director Sports Muhammad Ashfaq, as well as university deans, directors, and faculty members, who encouraged and supported the students.
