Vision
The vision of Department of Political Science is to enable students to analyze political structure, political systems, institutions, and to enhance awareness of political science by promoting theoretical knowledge of political theory and comparative political systems, international relations, international and regional organizations, political parties and interest groups, state issues, contemporary international issues as well as scientific disciplines and branches of study. For productive and effective human resources development, nationally and internationally, emphasizing over competitive, independent and cultural thinking, the department is open to work with national and international research oriented institutions.
Mission
The mission of department is to provide conducive learning environment in which students can conduct rigorous intellectual research, develop analytical skills, and gain a comprehensive understanding of the political process at the local, national, and international levels. The department seeks to educate students to become leaders who are able to address complex issues in a rapidly changing world using multidisciplinary approaches, innovative research, and hands-on learning opportunities. The department is dedicated to promote diversity, inclusion and dialogue, as well as providing insights useful for discussions on governance, diplomacy and international affairs. The department prepares students for careers in government and non-government organizations by teaching them analytical skills.
Introduction
Political science is one of the most important social science disciplines in a rapidly changing world. The Department of Political Science at Government College University Faisalabad has a rich history of academic excellence, dating back to 2009 when it was established with a Master program in Political Science. Since then, the department has grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of time and accomplish the same to students and academic community. This was followed by the launch of the BS Political Science program in 2010, providing students with a comprehensive education in political theory, political institutions, and processes. In 2011, the department launched the M.Phil Political Science program, catering to the needs of students seeking advanced research-based education. The department continued to expand its offerings with the introduction of the M.A International Relations program in 2012, focusing on global politics, diplomacy, and international relations. In 2015, the department started the Ph.D. Political Science program, providing students with advanced research training and expertise in political science. The department further expanded its undergraduate programs with the launch of the BS International Relations program in 2016 and the BS Politics and Parliamentary studies (PPS) program in 2016. The department is dedicated to develop a deeper understanding of ideologies, international relations, public policy, human rights, and economic development, governance and their impact on society. Ultimately, it serves as valuable tool for understanding our ever-evolving global political environment, both locally and internationally. Political science as an academic discipline also provides valuable perspectives on gender issues, social movements, minority rights, and civil society throughout the world. It bridges across differences and create more sustainable paths toward peace, diversity, stability, and justice. With a strong emphasis on critical thinking, research, and community engagement, the department prepares students to become active and well- informed citizens, policymakers, and future leaders in a rapidly changing world. Our experienced faculty and vibrant academic community create an environment for intellectual growth and discovery.
